This morning (February 26), a number of new Dongfeng Honda CRV off-road vehicle owners in Nanjing reported to Litchi News that they found an abnormal increase in Dongfeng Honda CRV oil. After a period of maintenance, the amount of oil has exceeded the upper limit of the oil gauge and is accompanied by a gasoline smell.
At the gate of Dongfeng Honda’s 4S shop on Dongqi Road in Nanjing, the reporter met more than a dozen rights activists. The owner, Mr. Zhang, said that he had purchased a 1.5T displacement CRV SUV in August 2017. After driving for a period of time, he found that the oil level of the vehicle would occasionally exceed the upper limit of the oil scale.
Mr. Zhang found on major auto forums that complaints about the increase in Honda CRV oil are not unique. In Nanjing, there are also many Dongfeng Honda CRV owners who have been "recruited". Everyone found that the oil not only smells of gasoline, but also has some white emulsified things, and the owners are very worried.
The owners said that after this happened, they went to the 4S shop for inspection and changed the oil. But after driving for a while, the problem reappeared.
The reporter learned that the 2017 Dongfeng Honda CRV is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine. After such a phenomenon occurred, many car owners questioned the design of the engine, which caused gasoline to seep into the oil. An after-sales person in charge of Dongfeng Honda 4S store said that they have indeed received many of the same complaints. In response to the recent oil incident, the manufacturer will make technical research and experiments. They can check the owner first to see if it belongs to this problem, and if it exceeds the upper limit, they will change the oil for free.
The reporter learned that this phenomenon has occurred many times in the northern part of our country. On February 12, Dongfeng Honda announced the solution of "rising oil level" on its official website, which mentioned: In a highly responsible attitude, Dongfeng Honda decided to recall CRV and CIVIC models equipped with 1.5L turbocharged engines.
Legal sources said that the "three guarantees policy for automobiles" has clear provisions on "repair, replacement and return". If a dispute occurs, consumers can request mediation and settlement from third-party social intermediaries such as consumer rights protection organizations at all levels according to law, or they can appeal to the quality and technical supervision department according to law.
We will continue to monitor this matter.
